A Tribute Page to Sifu Paul Vunak
Jeet Kune Do (Way of Intercepting the Fist) is a creation of
the famous Bruce Lee. Lee was born in San Francisco, California November 27, 1940. As a child, Bruce Lee grew up in Hong Kong and studied the arts of Boxing and Wing Chun Gung Fu. However, at the age of 18, Lee returned to the United States claiming his American citizenship to become one of the most famous movie stars and martial artists of all time. Not very many individuals are gifted with the intelligence, power, or speed which Bruce Lee had as a fighter. However, at the young age of 33, Bruce Lee passed away on July 20, 1973. He left behind his art of Jeet Kune Do
with his top student Dan Inosanto.
Dan Inosanto trained with Lee for nine long years. In fact,
Sifu Inosanto has been quoted saying, "Nobody has been hit more by Bruce Lee more than me." Sifu Inosanto is world renowned for his knowledge of Jeet Kune Do. He has helped carry the art into a new direction called Jeet Kune Do Concepts. Even to this day, over thirty years after Bruce Lee's unfortunate death back in 1973, Sifu Inosanto teaches the art of Jeet Kune Do.
Paul Vunak began his training as a child at age nine. By his mid teenage years, he had earned two black belts in the arts of Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo Karate. After earning his black belts, Sifu Vunak began to research other martial arts systems and found Jeet Kune Do with Dan Inosanto. After seeing Sifu Inosanto perform Jeet Kune Do Concepts techniques in class one day at the Inosanto Academy in Torrance, California, Mr. Vunak knew he found the art for him and began training awhile later.
After more than several years of training under Dan Inosanto, Paul Vunak earned his Full Instructor Certification in July of 1988. Upon earning his Full Instructor Certification,
Sifu Vunak created Progressive Fighting Systems (later to become Executive Progressive Fighting Systems) and began to take Jeet Kune Do Concepts into an entirely new direction.
Sifu Vunak has helped carry Jeet Kune Do Concepts where Bruce Lee left off. Mr. Vunak teachs some of the most realistic self-protection that world has seen. In fact, the training he offers is so realistic, it has been used by the U.S. Navy Seals, U.S. DEA, U.S. Marshalls, other U.S military units, foreign military troops, various U.S. police departments, and Civilians all over the world.
To this day, Sifu Vunak teaches Jeet Kune Do Concepts
which makes Sifu Inosanto proud. It is also fair to say it would make Bruce Lee proud if he were alive today. Sifu Vunak's reputation as an instructor and fighter are world renowned. In fact, Sifu Vunak has made a wide variety of DVD's on his version of Jeet Kune Do Concepts for many years .
Any student of Sifu Lopez's is encouraged to purchase Mr. Vunak's DVD's and/or train with him in person. One is truly missing out in their martial arts education if they do not do so.
Sifu Lopez was certified as a Full instructor in Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do in 1997 under Sifu John Mira . Sifu John Lopez continued trained under Mr. Paul Vunak for 12 yrs.
He is thankful for the time and patience Sifu Vunak has given him. Sifu Lopez earned his Full Instructor's Certification under Mr. Vunak in June 2006. Without Mr. Vunak's training and guidance, Survival Solutions would not exist. We wish to thank Sifu Vunak and again, encourage anyone in the world to purchase his DVD's or train with him in person.
